Long Stays in South Tenerife

South Tenerife is one of the few places in Europe where spending January and February away from home can cost less than staying put and heating the house. Daytime highs hold around 21–23 °C, the coast is flat and walkable, and the supermarkets, buses and health centres are those of a place people actually live in rather than a seasonal resort that shuts in October.

The six apartments in this collection are the ones set up for that kind of stay. They fall into two groups, and the choice between them is really a choice between evening quiet and having everything open at the door.

On the resort strip

Four are on the walkable stretch between Playa de las Américas and Torviscas in Costa Adeje. Two are one-bedroom apartments in large complexes with pools — one in the Garden City complex, with a heated pool, a workspace and a washing machine; one on the fifth floor of the Orlando complex, with three pools, a lift and parking. Two are two-bedroom apartments a couple of minutes from Playa de Troya and Las Vistas — a two-level apartment in the Altemar complex with a pool, a private parking space and a washing machine, and a San Sofe apartment with no pool but the beach across the road.

In the quiet villages

The other two are in the residential villages at either end of the coast: a one-bedroom in Palm Mar with an ocean-view rooftop terrace and a washing machine, and a two-bedroom in Callao Salvaje in a complex with a heated pool. How long stays work here

Several of these apartments list a monthly rate alongside the nightly one, and minimum stays are around a week, so a month or a whole winter is straightforward. Tell the host your dates before booking: long stays are priced differently from a week, and the winter months go early — Christmas and New Year are often gone by September. Yes. Every apartment in this collection accepts stays of a month or more, and several list a monthly rate. Send the host your dates first — longer stays, especially over the winter, are priced and confirmed individually.

Which area is best for a long stay: the resorts or the quiet villages?

If you want to walk to the beach, restaurants and shops without a car, choose the Las Américas and Costa Adeje apartments. If you want quiet evenings and a residential feel, and do not mind a short drive to the resorts, choose Palm Mar or Callao Salvaje.

Do the apartments have a washing machine and a place to work?

Most have a washing machine, and several have a table or desk that works as a workspace; the listing for each apartment shows exactly what it has. Wi-Fi is included in all of them.

How far ahead should I book a winter stay?

As early as you can. December to March is the high season in the Canary Islands, and the Christmas and New Year weeks are usually taken by early autumn.
