Quiet Coast: Palm Mar and Callao Salvaje
The calm side of south Tenerife, minutes from the resorts.
Two small residential villages on the same sunny coast as the big resorts, without the crowds: Palm Mar, between Montaña de Guaza and the Malpaís de Rasca nature reserve, and Callao Salvaje, halfway up to Playa Paraíso. Ocean-view rooftop terraces, a heated pool, a sandy cove within a few minutes on foot — and Los Cristianos a short drive away when you want the noise.
Most visitors to south Tenerife book the resort strip and never learn that the same weather, the same sea and a short airport transfer are available a few kilometres along the coast, in villages where the evening sound is the water rather than the bars.
Palm Mar sits at the end of its own road between Montaña de Guaza and the Malpaís de Rasca nature reserve, with a small beach and a seafront walk on the doorstep and Los Cristianos about 3 km away. Callao Salvaje is a low-rise village halfway between Costa Adeje and Playa Paraíso, with a small sandy beach a five-minute walk from the complexes and a supermarket, bars and restaurants closer than that.
Both stays here have a terrace facing the Atlantic, and both suit the trip where the point is to slow down: longer stays, winter sun, working a few hours a day with the balcony door open. A car helps but is not essential — buses run along the coast, and everything daily is within a couple of hundred metres.
